Augmentation of gas pipeline and metering station

PLC and SCADA for the augmented gas receiving and metering station that supplies the cement plant and its power plant.

The brief

Dangote Cement in Nigeria augmented the gas pipeline and metering station that receives natural gas and supplies the cement plant and its power plant. The station needed PLC and SCADA control from the inlet tie-in to each consumer.

What we built

Redundant PLC A and PLC B, with SCADA screens for the filter separator skid, the orifice metering skid, the line heaters, the PRF skids for the cement and power plants and the instrument gas system, plus ESD status, fire and gas alarms, event history and reports.

  • One screen for the whole station

The overview follows the gas from the inlet tie-in through the filter separators and the orifice metering skid to heaters H-03 and H-04, then to the PRF skids for the cement plant (PRF-04A/B) and the power plant (PRF-05A/B) and the instrument gas system.

  • Separation and metering

The filter separator screen shows both vessels with differential pressure, level control valves and isolation valves. The metering screen shows each orifice run with flow, metering pressure, temperature and differential pressure.

  • Instrument gas

The instrument gas system takes gas from metering through dryers and supplies the separators, heaters and PRF skids.

  • Safety and alarms

ESD conditions sit on the overview: ESD push button, fire alarm, gas alarm and manual call points. Alarms, event history, alarm history and reports are one click from every screen.
